Last week’s combined word count:  7,170 words.

I watched all my USA-based author friends twitch and stress-eat their way through the week, while they watched election polls and results, while other authors talked of productivity (and sales) dropping off the perch.

But I didn’t think I was one of those authors, because I’m safely north of the 48th parallel and well out of it.

Only, we’re not immune to the political events of the USA here, not entirely.  I don’t think there is anyone in the world who is completely isolated from anything, anymore.  We all feel the effects of big global events sooner or later.

So I dithered my way through what was supposed to be a catch up week, and utterly failed to catch up.  I gave up on Thursday.  Friday, Saturday and Sunday had been booked off for weeks as the days when I would do my annual run through the extended version of The Lord of the Rings, which I did do (as I was not the only person who had booked the days off for the run-through), and I think I’m better for the break and the little indulgence.

So this coming week is going to be a make-or-break.  We’ll see what happens with my word count, as I’ve adjusted some of my mental positioning lately.  More on that in an upcoming post.  Actually, I’ve been doing a lot of reading & thinking in between all the dithering over story.  Some of it was very fruitful.  So I suppose the week wasn’t a total disaster.

But it was awfully close to one.
